PERFORMANCE LEVEL!

Today we were asked to have a production number for the station. If not for my supervisor’s signature, I won’t really do that! But the sad thing is, we did. We sang, dance and even performed a skit in front of the whole DZRM staff. It felt so embarrassing at first but then I realized, “hey wait! I love doing this!” And so we had the most entertaining number with our performance level held so high just for the happiness of everyone! J

WHAT WILL I BE TEN YEARS FROM NOW AS A MEDIA PRACTITIONER

I definitely do not know what I will be ten years from now. It’s either I’m already working in the showbiz industry by that time or I’m still on my bed dreaming and waiting for that moment t come. Hehe!

But seriously, I view myself ten years from now as a TV personality (aside from the fact that I do really want to be one). I always wanted to work on any of the big television networks (May it be ABS-CBN2 or GMA7), doing a lot of productions. I’m more than willing to do any work as long as it is related to the course I graduated on and to the training I had in various stations. While I’m writing this, I also realized that I wanted to work on television, since it is the most effective medium for communication, in order for me to share my skills, communicate my thoughts and inspire others.

MY EXPERIENCE AT DZRM 1278

With more than a hundred and fifty hours that I spent here, I can say that I experienced countless things. From waking up early in the morning up to the time I got to speak ‘on air’, it was definitely a learning venture for me.

I was assigned, together my other four beautiful colleagues, at DZRM 1278 Radyo Magasin under the supervision of Mr. Remigio “Rey” Sampang. Working with the professionals is a difficult thing to do for they expect a lot from trainees like me. But with Mr. Rey’s guidance and the other staff’s support, I was able to pull it through.

I’ve even got the chance to air the news I wrote and translated myself during Mr. Rey’s program scheduled at nine in the morning up to twelve noon. We also provided Mr. Rey’s program with lots of information and trivia “everything and anything under the sun.” We also had what we call “P.A. of the Day”, wherein he/she is tasked to make all telephone calls contacting various personnel involved in a particular issue/concern. He/she is also in-charge in getting weather, traffic and even showbiz updates. Aside from that, we were able to provide our very own radio plug with our voices on it and two 15-minuter radio documentaries about the tourism of Pasig and the culture of Ifugao. I had an overview on what a radio program consists and how a radio station works.

Above anything else, I learned things more than any radio station could teach me. My early schedule taught me to be punctual, as the saying goes, “Being on time is always late.” I also learned to be responsible on everything I say and act because I know that professionalism is a part of it. And most especially, I learned to value all the people whom I work with because they are the ones who taught me and let me grow into a better person.

NEWS WEEK

During our stay there, we were tasked to perform things that were beyond what we expect we’ll do. Everyday, we needed to produce eight news bulletins and eight information bulletins for Mr. Rey Sampang’s daily program schedule. Here are some of the news and bits of information that I wrote and gathered myself:

RADIO DOCUMENTARY

After having our own radio plug, we were also given the chance to produce 15-minuter radio documentary. Luckily, we had two of them. The documentary was focused on the tourism of Pasig and the culture of Ifugao. We conducted an intensive regarding those things and wrote a script. With the help of Sir Anthony who edited the whole piece, we happily listened to our new self-produced masterpieces! Attached herewith was the script. Enjoy! :)

INTRO: Isang paanyaya mula sa DZRM 1278 Radyo Magasin. Ating alamin ang makukulay na kultura at pamumuhay ng iba’t ibang pangkat etniko sa bansa. Halina sumama ka, pumasyal tayo doon po sa amin, sa bulubundukin ng Ifugao.

Ang Ifugao ay matatagpuan sa bulubundukin ng Cordillera Administrative Region. Makikita sa Ifugao ang ibat-ibang magagandang tanawin . Bukod pa dito, mayaman din ang lugar na ito sa mga kultura at tradisyon.

Nagmula ang salitang “Ifugao” sa salitang “ipugo” na ang ibig sabihin ay “Mula sa burol”.

Ayon sa Ifugao Mythology, ang ipugo ay nangangahulugang “butil ng bigas” na pinagkaloob sa kanila ng kanilang diyos na si Matungulan. At hanggang sa ngayon ang butil ng bigas na ito ay patuloy pa ring itinatanim ng mga Ifugao.

Ang pangalang Ygolote, Igolot, o Igorrote ay ginamit ng mga espanyol na conquistadores at misyonaryo, tungkol sa iba’t ibang taong bundok..."
