DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE RADIO STATIONS

Having been on both government and private radio stations, their differences can be easily identified. They differ in various concerns depending on who operates them and how they are operated.

Government radio stations are those stations which are fully funded by the government. These are government-subsidized institutions that in service of the public. They deliver all the news and information which caters to national awareness and involvement. These stations inform the public regarding different issues and concerns that the whole nation is experiencing with of course, under the supervision of the government.

On the other hand, private radio stations are owned by private person/s and companies. Since these are privately operated, they depend on the advertisements paid by different agencies as well as investments that would enable these companies to earn more. Also, advertisers are the life-blood of these stations in order for them to continue their operations.

But nevertheless, both government and private radio stations serve the public in their own ways respectively. They both cater to our needs in terms of entertainment and provide us information that is beneficial to our everyday living.

ORIENTATION DAY!

We finally arrived earlier at the Philippine Broadcasting Service building to have our orientation for our on-the-job training there. We gathered at the conference room together with the other trainees. We were able to meet the people working there especially Mr. Leonardo Sarne (which I forgot what position he’s in) and Sir Rodney who happened to be the over-all in-charge of the trainees at PBS. Our batch of trainees came from various schools like PUP, TUP, TIP, NEU and other universities. We were asked to introduce ourselves for us to know each other well. Then, we were assigned to our respective work places and started counting our hours there. I, together with Kim, Karen, Joanna and Dessa was brought to DZRM 1278 Radyo Magasin production room. There we met the acting BPS Mr. Rey Sampang. So I thought, this is gonna be fun! And I didn’t fail. J
