Never snob LEPTOSPIROSIS

The public must seriously take the cautions of the Department of Health (DoH) concerning the fight against leptospirosis because of the continuous growth of these cases after the flash flood in Metro Manila and other nearby cities of Luzon this past few weeks brought about by typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.
Leptospirosis is a disease obtained from the flood contaminated with urine of dogs, cats and rats, and enters the body through an open wound soaked in the flood water.
Parents and guardians must never let their children play in the flood water because they may not know that their children have a wound even if it’s small for it will still enter the body.
The public must be alert particularly the parents to the early warnings and symptoms of the said disease and immediately turn over to nearest health centers or go see a doctor in order to prevent and to give the needed aid for it.
It is hard not be cautious and may lead to more serious problems when in fact we have cures for this. We must always make ourselves clean and execute precautionary measures to fight this disease.
The symptoms of this disease are high fever, yellowing of the eyes and skin and having tea-colored urine.
In the latest report of DoH, we already have 398 cases of leptospirosis in different public and private hospitals, and is expected to increase because it usually lasts until one month incubation period before seeing the signs of this disease.

2010 ELECTIONS: More of a Popularity Contest

Strike your best pose. Never forget to smile. Walk with your head held high. Speak with outmost confidence. Who are your bets for next year’s pageant? Or should I say, who do you think will win this popularity contest? You decide!
Everyone can join as long as you can cope up with the contestant’s qualifications. This contest doesn’t require you to obtain a college degree nor does it need a person with flying rainbow colors or what. As long as you know how to read and write, then you’re in! Also, you must be living here for at least six years and you’re at the right age for the title. Of course, you won’t become a participant unless you register or you will be disappointed in the game. You must keep in mind that you will never compete with yourself. This contest is packed with contestants in different shapes and sizes. These contestants vary from the rich ones up to the poorest of the poor who eventually become rich right after winning; from the most powerful up to the weakest link; from the most influential up to the least credible; from the most experienced up to the beginners in the venture; all eager enough to obtain the crown by all means.
This contest would never be possible without the participation of all people wise enough to place their bets. They are the ones who control the whole situation once the contest starts. The criteria for judging are simple: 2% sincerity, 5% credibility and 90% audience impact, for a total of a hundred percent. The participant with the highest point wins!
Here’s how to win: in order to gain popularity, you must devote all of your time exposing yourself to people. Whether you’re sincere or not, as long as you portray yourself as a role model to them, it won’t matter at all. You can also impress the judges through your “flowery” statements whenever you’re interviewed. Your “unselfish” plans would really touch the hearts of the people. You just promise them (with fingers crossed) you’ll bring the “change” they’re longing to have and you got it with you. Add a little bit of smile and good posture, and then you’re on! You will surely be a total winner!
Since the past contests (elections to be exact) brought issues of cheating, vote buying and other evil ways of winning, the organizers implemented an automated form of election. It will be a process of voting the desired aspirants through the use of computers and these computers will automatically count and total the number of votes. The efficiency and accuracy of the election results is the very purpose of this automation. But how will the voters adjust to this new process considering the thought of having computer illiterate voters? What is the assurance that this election will be free from any act of wrongdoings and falsification? What really matters most is having a safe and peaceful election. Whoever wins must abolish the shameful, rotten system of governing. They must serve the people and not themselves. No one ever knows what will happen next. We just want a clean and honest election, right? And the winner is… (Drum roll) up to you! J

whew!

At last, I finally opened my blog. I've been trying to open my blog, but the server kept saying, "The blog account is not blah, blah, blah." Not until today, I managed to open it. I worried more about the requirement we need to pass for our subject. I hope it still counts. Besides, I've been very busy this past few days. I even don't have time to watch television and I often skipped meals because my busy schedule. Sigh. Rest is what I badly need right now.
